Airtel's Unlimited 5G Data Plan Misleading: Mobile Hotspot Not Allowed

Airtel has officially confirmed on its website that mobile hotspot is not allowed on its Unlimited 5G mobile data plan, contradicting earlier reports that hinted at the possibility of hotspot sharing. The 300GB monthly data cap has been in place since the inception of the plan, and it's essential to understand the true nature of Airtel's 5G network.
Airtel is currently offering 5G NSA (New Radio) based on the 4G infrastructure, which is an enhanced version of the existing network. However, reports emerged in February that Airtel planned to upgrade to 5G SA (Standalone) by the end of the year, a true standalone 5G network that Jio has been offering since its inception.
Despite these plans, Airtel's 5G NSA network still relies heavily on 4G infrastructure, consuming data from the daily limit without utilizing the full potential of the 5G network. Moreover, the so-called “unlimited” 5G plan comes with a 300GB cap, which is not truly unlimited. Users cannot use mobile hotspot on this plan from day one, and Airtel's aggressive recharging tactics, where calls and messages are spammed to users before stopping incoming calls entirely, further highlight the limitations of the plan.
In stark contrast, Jio offers truly unlimited 5G data with no cap, allowing users to share data via mobile hotspot without any restrictions. This highlights the discrepancies between Airtel's claims and its actual offerings, leaving users to question the value of its Unlimited 5G plan.
We already saw reports that Airtel doesn't allow Unlimited 5G data sharing via mobile hotspot.
Now, it is officially mentioned on Airtel's website that mobile hotspot is not allowed on its Unlimited 5G mobile data plan.
The 300GB monthly data cap has also been there since the beginning.

- Still Runs on NSA towers (4G infrastructure)
- The so-called unlimited 5G has a cap of 300GB from day 1
- It doesn’t even use 5G most of the time and consumes from your daily limit
- You can’t use Unlimited 5G for hotspot from day 1
